Born in England but raised in North East Scotland, C.J. graduated from Lancaster university with a first class honours in politics, philosophy and history. By the end of their triple major the only thing they were certain of was that they had no interest in being a politician, philosopher or a historian.
However, during their undergraduate C.J. had been attending summer schools in Sussex and Edinburgh focused on creative writing. By the time they graduated they already had two stories published in anthologies and their sights set on further study.
C.J. was accepted into Edinburgh Napier's master's program as the youngest in their cohort. Graduating with a first after insightful mentoring under Nicholas Binge. C.J. is now looking to publish their debut novel the Last Sparrows a dark fantasy tale full of moral complexity, rich magic systems and queer characters who exist as more than set dressing or perpetual victims.
When not writing C.J. can be found building and painting miniatures or falling into spirals of anxiety over the future of humanity.
